Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school graduate or GED
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- RN with active license in the state of Missouri
- CPR, ACLS certified
- Leadership qualities
- Strong ethical and moral character references
- Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
- PALS certification preferred
- ASC experience preferred
Duties:
- Participates as a team member in support of the total peri-operative process
- Organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management
- Supervises and directs patient care in a single operating room
- Organizes nursing activities efficiently and effectively
- Delegates activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff members
- Assists with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability
- Addresses patient needs during admission to the operating room, with attention to requirements specific to the ASC setting
- Transports patients to the operating room observing policies/procedures, safety requirements, and patient needs
- Identifies the patient and correct surgical intervention according to policy/procedure and communicates such information to all members of the surgical team
- Reviews patients’ medical records/needs to plan care with other healthcare team members
- Provides comfort and reassurance to patient
- Maintains patients’ privacy and dignity
- Explains intra-operative phase of routine procedures and care to the patient
- Performs the circulating nurse’s role and functions following approved operating room procedures to meet the requirements of scheduled procedures
- Prepares operating room according to requirements of patient/procedure to be performed
- Assembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure and positions and adjusts equipment as required during the procedure
- Anticipates needs of surgical team and assists anesthesia personnel by supporting patient during administration of anesthesia
- Assists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient and prepares operative site as directed by established procedures
- Accurately advises others responsible for care of the patient about patient’s status

The right candidate for this position should have:
Qualifications:
- Commitment to patient care
- Excellent skills and clinical ability
- Minimum 2 years pre- and post-operative experience preferred
- Ambulatory care experience preferred
- BLS and ACLS certification, PALS preferred
- Current Missouri Nursing License
Duties:
- Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and supports the patient’s right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
- Confirms that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice
- Assists in inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels
- Performs thorough pre‐operative patient assessment required in the outpatient setting
- Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate post‐ operative/post‐anesthesia period
- Performs thorough post‐operative patient assessment prior to discharge of the patient
- Performs discharge education to patient and care giver
- Provides nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered

Ambulatory Surgery Center – Fenton, MO
SSM St. Clare Surgical Center has an exceptional opportunity for an operating room RN Circulator. Candidates for this position must possess:
- Commitment to patient care

- Ambulatory surgery experience preferred
- BLS and ACLS certification, PALS preferred

Every day you will . . .
- Perform specified functions to meet the requirements of each approved procedure
- Assemble supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physicians’ preference
- Follow principles of aseptic technique and prescribed operating/procedure room procedures
- Arrange instruments according to given procedure
- Report observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and take action according to policy
- Correctly use, care for, clean, and sterilize instruments, supplies, and equipment as directed
- Assist in storing and stocking supplies as directed
- Maintain and update instrument cards and surgeons’ preference cards
- Respond in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician
Success in this position will require . . .
- Previous operating room experience
- High school diploma or GED certification
- Completion of surgical scrub technician course
- CPR
- ASC experience preferred
